Shae and Donny - Destination wedding

Posted on September 6, 2010

Shae & Donny are the kind of people who make you feel as if you’re their friend immediately, so walking into Shae’s getting ready room was both comfortable and easy from the start! The girls were relaxed and having a great time the moment I walked in.

Here’s the thing about Shae & Donny’s weddings - it was not really about the wedding. It was about all the pieces that make up the wedding: The relationship between a couple who has waited 11 years to get married. The friends and family who have taken the time and considerable effort to be there to support the couple, traveling from far and aboard. It was the laugh that rumbles and spills over from the father of the bride as he tells stories from the childhood of his baby girl, and it was the love that a mother has for her son and the new daughter she is about to have.

And it was beautiful.

As a wedding photographer, this is one of the moments that I know I will treasure for a long time to come. For one weekend, I got to be a part of their life. And all of those things make it possible for me to see more of the pieces that make up a couple that is so special.

We had the best day ever - you really couldn’t ask for more:

The wedding was held at Villa Vivante which provided the most beautiful setting… and.. did I mention we had the best day ever.

I really like the simplicity of this dress - inspired by Reem Acra Spring collection:

There were lots of laughters…

And there was some quiet moments as well:

Shae is such an elegant bride that everything she does looks great.

Meanwhile, the boys were busy getting ready:

Donny’s nephews were just so cute and adorable.

Thank you for welcoming me to be part of you for one weekend.

This week has been a pretty amazing week for me on the wedding front. I got to photograph the uber awesome Alicia Larriera’s very own wedding. Alicia from Form over Function is probably the most incredible wedding coordinator and stylist I’ve ever come across. An eye for detail, a taste for elegance, and most importantly a big heart for others.

The other amazing thing that happened to me this week is that I got featured at the inspiring wedding blog - Polka dot bride. The team at polka dot bride features work of some of the best wedding suppliers in Australia and overseas. All those brides looking for inspirations, you can’t miss this blog. So you can see I was over the moon when my photography got featured in the blog. But what makes this week truely amazing is that I got featured not once, but twice on the blog within one week: an engagement session and the graceful green.

Head over to Polka dot Bride for some eye candy.

Bride in colour

Posted on March 6, 2010

When Marianne showed me her styling for her big day a few weeks ago, I was completely sold to the idea. A touch of vintage, a splash of colour, a lot of music, mixed with a grain of silliness. I knew straight away it’s going to be an amazing wedding. Marianne is a true artist and opted to try something a little different. Bride in colour. I’ve photographed tons of wedding stuff but bride in colour is certainly a first.

Marianne’s colourful styling has added a bit of spark to the otherwise wet and dull weather.

Getting ready: Sister’s vintage decorated terrace house in Paddington
Shoes: Anne Klein
Ceremony: St Frances Xavier Church, Lavendar Bay
Location: Lavendar Bay
Reception: Mandalay

Here’s another quick sneak peek for now.

Off to another shoot now - it’s been an insanely busy wedding season - do stay tuned for more.

Destination wedding - Moscow

Posted on March 4, 2010

Here’s a sneak peek at what’s to come.

Ok. This isn’t exactly a destination wedding but one that has a wedding photographer in Sydney travelled all the way to Moscow, Russia to photograph. You could imagine just how awesome this wedding was. I’ve never even dreamed of going to Moscow, let alone to document a wedding under some pretty harsh condition for a Sydneysider like me. It was -25C. Yep, minus 25C. This is somewhat colder than what I’m used to for a typical wedding in Sydney.

Anyway, here it is, the Red Square:

Stay tuned for more.

Agata & Chris

Posted on February 11, 2010

I love my job.

I love spending time with the bride and groom on the day of their wedding and sharing those special moments. I love it even more when I get invited to join them with all the little things leading up to their wedding, like the reharsals. With Agata & Chris, I even got to see how their bridal gown was made right from the very beginning. It’s pretty amazing how modern bridal gowns have become such a fashion statement with a cross between vintage and modern.

Here’s some of the photos from the couture:

Agata and Chris had a lovely simple and small wedding. We headed over to Centennial Park for location photos. Here’s some of my favourite of the day:

I love these two shots here and I decided to give them vintage treatment:

We then had the best light ever which lasted only for a few seconds.

A vintage wedding is not complete without my classic polaroid film. I’m so glad to see polaroid coming back on the market very soon.

Thanks Paul for assisting on the day.

Natasha & Charles - Wedding

Posted on October 6, 2009

When I first met Natasha and Charles, I knew straight away that this would be an awesome wedding. It was no doubt one of the best weddings I’ve ever been to. The couple was perfect, the guests were fantastic, the ceremony was moving, the music was awesome, the speeches were funny, the food was great, the drinks even greater, and more importantly, Tash and Charles was just so down to earth. Everyone had a great time despite the rain and nothing could stop the party afterward.

Ceremony: Elizabeth Bay House

Reception: Museum of Contemporary Art

We started off at the boys getting ready:

And at the same time, the girls were busy getting themselves looking absolutely fabulous:

And they had so much fun with it:

and also a lot of bubblies:

plus some quiet moments:

Natasha is so elegant that whatever she does looks great.

Bec & Tim - Wedding

Posted on September 9, 2009

The best part of being a wedding photographer is to be part of someone’s life for a day. You observe the entire wedding right from the very beginning when the girls get ready which is always glittered with joy and fun. To the anticipation and nervousness just before the ceremony, then the touching moments in front of all the guests and followed by celebration of the special event filled with food, drinks, dance and all the rest.

On Saturday, I got to experience the magic of love once again and to be at the amazing wedding of Bec & Tim, I feel absolutely honoured. This wedding was held at their family private property at Kenthurst with an awesome lake and beautiful bushland on the property.

Here’s some of my favourites for the day.

I love how Bec carries the very sentimental ring with her bouquet:

Red roses bouquet with a sentimental ring tied to the bouquet

The privilege of seeing the brides in preparation is priceless. All the emotion and anticipation leading up to the big moment is something that no other guest would see. And this the reason I capture these magical moments to preserve that memory.

These ear pieces were made by Bec’s cousin as a gift. Bec’s whole family are really gifted with making things.

These bridesmaid dresses were made by Bec’s sister (also a bridesmaid) and they knew exactly what to do:

The girls were very anxious and kept peeking at the guests and the boys:

Bec has a really beautiful smile and is very chic too.

I always knew black and red go well together at weddings. Here’s proof. It’s modern, it’s stylish, and neat.

Sydney’s summer weather for the past couple of years have been extremely volatile and rained every second weekend. Luckily the sun shined through just at the right moment.

The wedding was held at a private property with some pretty awesome scenery.

I’ve always love the look and feel of a Polaroid prints. So every now and then, I like taking a few shots with my Polaroid at weddings and that always adds something extra to the wedding album:

Helen and David - Wedding

Posted on July 16, 2009

Helen and David decided to have their small and intimate wedding held at the Garden Terrance at Pyrmont which was just wonderful. I love small weddings as everyone can be so relax, including Helen and David. I’ve posted a couple of my favourites on the day:

I really love the styling of the wedding:

Nic & Chris - Destination Wedding

Posted on May 20, 2009

This destination wedding has people flown thousands of kilometers from all over the world, including myself. I am still in the middle of my European trip and decided to fly all the way back to Australia to capture this very special wedding near Jervis Bay. Nic & Chris lives in London but wanted to have the wedding in a special location where they both shared memorable times together.

I love destination weddings. Guests enjoy themselves so much more when they are away from the big smoke - they go a little crazy.

This wedding was beautifully put together by Jen from As a Whisper.

We started at Nic’s parents for getting ready shots:

Nic looks absolutely gorgeous. I got this photo just before we headed out to the wedding and it started to rain.

And of course, let’s not forget the good looking groom.

Great capture by Jenny.

I just love all the details in this wedding. Nic & Chris has really cool styling.

Another great capture by Jenny.

A big thank you to Jenny for shooting with me.
