Carla & Mark - {country wedding}

Posted on December 18, 2011

It’s no secret that my favourite wedding location is in the Southern Highlands and so when Carla & Mark asked me to photograph their big day in the beautiful country side only a short drive from Sydney, inside of me just exploded with joy and excitement. Carla & Mark were married 2 weeks ago at the beautiful Summerlees cottage and we were all praying for good weather in the weeks leading up to the wedding. As it turns out, it was a perfect day out for friends and family to enjoy the little sweet treats that Carla & Mark organised.

This wedding was in every way possible, amazing to be at. Looking at the couple, I see what true love is in it’s purest form - best friends who are totally and completely in love. Everyone surrounding them was just a pleasure to be around. Carla is not someone who likes to be in the centre of attention but enjoys creating little treasures for the delights of the guests. This wedding was exactly that and if I could shot this wedding every weekend for the rest of my career, I’d be thrilled!

Congratulations to Carla and Mark!

A big thank you for having me for your big day and thank you to Clarissa for assisting me on the day.

Gabi & Kyal - {wedding}

Posted on December 2, 2011

Gabi and Kyal is a couple who came to me early on in their engagement and needless to say, I have been excited for their big day for a VERY long time now! Having a wedding in Sydney in the past month would have driven everyone insane with all the unpredictable weather and it was no different for Gabi & Kyal’s wedding day. We started off with rain in the morning and we were lucky enough to a clear sky by the time we were ready.

Gabi and Kyal’s wedding was simple, relaxed, and charming affair with a little touch of vintage. My favourite thing about this wedding is the unique decor bursting with delightful DIY crafts made by the creative bride and her friends.

They got married in Sydney with friends travelling from far and apart and this has to be the perfect way to enjoy a very memorable day.

Ballet Style Wedding

Posted on July 12, 2011

I love styled photo sessions, they keep me inspired and are the best outlet for the creativity that bursts at seams. Often these photoshoots are realisations of visions that I dreamed about - contrasting modern with vintage, elegance with outdoor country, romance with reality. Sometimes, these are brought about from realisation of others dreams.

In this case, Candice’s dream of seeing a ballet performance turned into inspirations for her latest bridal accessories. Together with the uber awesome wedding stylist, Lina from Chanele Rose, we created music for our eyes.

“Images come to mind of the bride every young girl wants to become but needed to breathe life into it, in a way that would appeal to her more mature self by adding touches of vintage charm”

The fabulous team that put this together:
Photography: Me
Styling & Flowers by Lina: Chanele Rose
Hair by Candice : Candice Lee
Venue: Mamre Homestead
Gowns by Maria: Vellos bridal
Make up by Tara: Embellish
Chair hire by : CC&C
Models: Lila Swain, Brianna Bond and Zoey (little Ballerina)

Thank you all for your big effort on the day.

Elissa & James - {wedding}

Posted on June 5, 2011

Every once in a while, a wedding comes along that I knew from the moment I meet the couple, I wanted to photograph. Sometimes it has to do with the couple or the location…..sometimes it’s just the vibe that I get, that I knew I was going to have a good time shooting. This was certainly one of those weddings. The first time I met Elissa and James, I knew we were on the same page - we clicked the moment they started talking about their vision and how it was all going to come together.

I got to shoot their engagement session a few weeks ago and I realised just how much I’d enjoy photographing them. As a couple they are gorgeous and caring for each other. As a client, I just enjoy sharing those intimate moments with them. I feel honoured to be able to photograph them, doing nothing but just being themselves.

Thanks for having me as part of your big day…I really couldn’t narrow down my favourites so I decided to make a slideshow for you:

Elissa & James are like 2 love birds with a great sense of style and taste. They wanted romantic, vintage inspired photos for their engagement shoot and this is what we came up with.

I cannot wait to photograph their wedding this Sat.

See you on Sat.

Cathy and Trev {wedding}

Posted on November 14, 2010

I love my couples. I truely do.

I particularly love Cath and Trev. We met for the first time only last week and it felt like we’ve known each other for years. Cath is so down to earth and she must be the most organised and yet worry-free person you will ever meet. Yeah, I know, well-organised and worry-free? I’m surprised I can mention the two in one sentence. I really don’t know how she does it. She pretty much single handedly organised the entire wedding in 12 weeks and did a pretty good job at it.

Stepping into her house was like a kid walking into Toy R Us. I saw all these little vintage settings contrasting with her modern surrounds. Her sense of style keeps amazing me with each room I walk into.

Here’s my take on the wedding:

No prizes for guessing who was among the guests…

What better way to finish off the night than Adriano Zumbo macarons….

I love the idea of having a photobooth at the wedding. You get a set of photos of your guests for your photobook and it’s so much fun for the guests and something to take away.

I finished off with the ring shot - I found a 1800s newspaper… gold..!!!

Cathy and Trevor, THANK YOU for allowing me to be part of your big day.

Country vintage style

Posted on November 11, 2010

Before I head off to Cathy and Trev’s wedding - one that I’ve been really looking forward to, I want to share this exciting photo shoot with all my blog lovers out there. This shoot has been a result of months of planning with Jenny and the collaboration of some amazing people in the industry.

This bridal shoot combines all the elements that I love to see in all the weddings that I photograph. So all those fab brides out there, this is how to make your photographer happy - a modern bride with a vintage couture in a country setting with lots of amazing details.

Wedding stylist: Form over function
Gown: Pretty in white
Makeup and hair: Amy Chan
Photographer: me

I sprinkled a touch of vintage to these photos so be prepared to be charmed by pure good old film days.

I absolutely love this - Kaitlin accidentally cracked a laughter..

We then brought in Melissa who’s just so elegant:

Emma and Scott - {country wedding}

Posted on October 25, 2010

For me, wedding photos should to be a timeless record of the big day. When brides take out their photos in 10, 20 or even 30 years time, the memory should be as fresh as the day itself. That’s why I absolutely love vintage weddings because the look and feel of day can really be captured and remembered forever. To be at Emma and Scott’s wedding, it almost feels like I had travelled in a time machine - going back 100 years. This 1920s inspired wedding brings together little bits and pieces that you can find in the roaring twenties. The dress, the ring, the postcards..

Here’s a few of my favourites, I decided to give a little touch of vintage to the photos:

Emma and Scott’s invitation was made with vintage postcards. Some of these are decades old:

Katrina and Marty

Posted on October 1, 2010

Sometimes you come across people who you meet for the first time and it feels like a reunion with old friends. It’s the vibe you get with them - an openness, a friendliness, and a willingness to really get to know who another person is and appreciate them for it. When I first met Katrina and Marty, that was certainly a feeling that we were old friends. Of course, I didn’t know anything about this lovely couple but as I got to learn lots of things about the two of them as a couple, that made their wedding all the more special. As Katrina tells me her many ideas for the wedding, I instantly thought, this is exactly how I would have it if I were to plan her wedding - like I’ve known her for years.

Katrina and Marty have a deep, mutual respect for each other, and treat everyone with the same kindness as their closest friends and families.

Thank you both so much for letting me be a part of your big day, and I can’t wait to see you soon!

The wedding was styled by the very talented Alicia from Form over Function.

Teresa and Ben - {wedding}

Posted on September 21, 2010

Teresa and Ben’s wedding was a simple and elegant affair. It was touching, intimate, funny, and most importantly very personal. I had the best time ever and it was held at my favourite location. A beautiful autumn afternoon down at Bowral, Southern Highlands spent with a wonderful couple - what more can you ask for.

Thank you for having me.
