About
Sometimes I ask myself why do I want to be a wedding photographer. After all, wedding photography is quite a demanding job. You have one chance (and one chance only) to get the shot at every stage of the day; you need to know your gear is always ready to capture the moment; there’s no such thing as sick leave, you have to be there no matter what. Also, to stay on top of game, you have to continuedly challenge yourself to come up with new ideas to stay in the competition.
But the fun part of it is — being a part of someone’s life on such an important day, being backstage for all the little things that happen, getting to know people, families, and the reasons why people get married in the first place.
I think that wedding photos are important for a lot of reasons, but one that stands out is that I often look back on photos from certain times in my life and all I can remember is the moment the photo captures. I have a handful of photos from high school, and while I know that I lived hundreds of other days and times, the ones that really stick in my head are the ones I can look at in a photo and it’s just as real as if it were yesterday.
Weddings go by so fast, every time I click the shutter I think–this might be one of the only things this couple can remember about today. That in itself is enough for me to keep helping happy couples to capture the moments.
